About our charity

Citizens Advice West Oxfordshire (CAWO) is a charity serving the needs of our local community by providing free, confidential and independent advice to help people overcome their problems. We have 62 volunteers and 28 paid staff who worked tirelessly in 2019/20 to deliver advice to 7516 clients on 19,850 issues ranging from benefits and tax credits to debt, housing and employment.

What are we looking for?

  • We are looking for people with strategic vision, independent judgement and a willingness to give time and commitment to being a Trustee.
  • We are particularly interested in talking to people with specific skills and experience in Fundraising, Communication, HR and Equality and Diversity.
  • The post of Trustee is unpaid but will provide you a great deal of experience and satisfaction. All reasonable expenses are reimbursed.
  • We are particularly keen to achieve a more diverse board of Trustees and welcome applications from all sections of the community.

What difference will you make?

CAWO is always growing and developing what we do and we’re looking for Trustees who can roll up their sleeves and get involved with the creation, development and implementation of strategy, policy and practice.

What’s in it for the volunteer?

Volunteering as a Trustee for CAWO is never dull! It’s a rewarding experience and gives the opportunity to work with an incredibly professional organisation delivering much needed help and support to people every day. Never before has the work of Citizens Advice been needed by so many people.
