About Us

Citizens Advice West Oxfordshire (CAWO) is a charity serving the needs of our local community by providing free, confidential and independent advice to help people overcome their problems. We have 72 Volunteers and 25 paid staff who worked tirelessly in 2018/19 to deliver advice to 7,100 clients on 19,700 issues ranging from benefits and tax credits to debt, housing and employment.

You will join a team of around 12 Trustees with a variety of experience to help develop and grow the forward thinking Citizens Advice West Oxfordshire.

 What are we looking for?

  • We are looking for people with strategic vision, independent judgement and a willingness to give time and commitment to being a Trustee.
  • We are particularly interested in talking to people with specific skills and experience – including HR, IT, fund-raising, knowledge of local Governmentand business / strategy planning.
  • The post of Trustee is unpaid but will provide you a great deal of experience and satisfaction. Reasonable significant expenses are reimbursed (e.g. for travel to conferences & courses).
  • We are particularly keen to achieve a more diverse board of Trustees and welcome applications from all sections of the community.

What difference will you make?

CAWO is always growing and developing what we do and we’re looking for Trustees who can roll up their sleeves and get involved with the creation, development and implementation of strategy, policy and practice.

What’s in it for the volunteer?

Volunteering as a Trustee for CAWO is never dull! It’s a rewarding experience and gives the opportunity to work with an incredibly professional organisation delivering much needed help and support to people every day. Never before has the work of Citizens Advice been needed by so many people.
