Do you have a background in HR and/or People Management?

What will you be doing?

CAWO is a charity serving the needs of our local community by providing free, confidential and independent advice to help people overcome their problems. We have 69 Volunteers and 23 paid staff who worked tirelessly in 2020/21 to deliver advice to 5,300 clients on 17,300 issues ranging from benefits and tax credits to debt, housing, and employment.

What are we looking for?

  • We are looking for people with strategic vision, independent judgement, and a willingness to give time and commitment to being a Trustee.
  • We are particularly interested in talking to people with specific skills and experience in Human Resources and/or People Management.
  • The post of Trustee is unpaid but will provide you a great deal of experience and satisfaction. All reasonable expenses are reimbursed.
  • We are particularly keen to achieve a more diverse board of Trustees and welcome applications from all sections of the community.

What difference will you make?

CAWO is always growing and developing what we do and we’re looking for Trustees who can roll up their sleeves and get involved with the creation, development and implementation of strategy, policy, and practice.

This new Trustee will provide experience and knowledge of Human Resources and best practice across the broad spectrum of activities. They will provide strategic direction and assistance to both the Chief Executive and the Board.

What’s in it for the volunteer?

Volunteering as a Trustee for CAWO is never dull! It’s a rewarding experience and gives the opportunity to work with an incredibly professional organisation delivering much needed help and support to people every day. Never before has the work of Citizens Advice been needed by so many people.
